Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said the Ministry of Railways had announced the decision to resume prepared meals services on trains.
“In view of the restoration of normal rail services, the demands of traveling passengers and the relaxation of COVID lockdown restrictions at restaurants, hotels and other places across the country, it has been decided by the Ministry of Railways to resume the services of cooked meals on the trains. The ready-to-eat (PAM) meal service would also continue, “the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.
IRCTC, a public sector company of Mini Ratna under the administrative control of the Department of Railways, is the only entity authorized by Indian Railways (IR) to provide railroad catering services, railway tickets in line and conditioned drinking water in stations and trains in India. The Indian government held 67.4% of the company’s capital.
The company recorded a 386% jump in net profit to Rs 158.57 crore on a 357% increase in operating income to Rs 40,493.72 crore in Q2 FY22 compared to Q2 FY21.
The script fell 1.43% to end at Rs 890.70 on BSE on Thursday. The national stock exchange was closed on Friday because of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
