The Red Cross accepts applications in the following categories. Applications are accepted year-round, but to be considered for the 2022 awards, they must be received by November 26, according to a press release.

• Heroes of Disaster Services: This award is presented to an individual or organization who has made heroic efforts in any or all areas of disaster service, including preparedness, response or recovery. during a natural disaster or emergency with mission-oriented response assistance to those in need.

• Hero of the First Responder: This award is given to a professional or volunteer serving as a law enforcement official, firefighter, first responder, or responder in the medical or healthcare field.

• Gift of Life Hero: This award is presented to an individual or group supporting the mission of the American Red Cross through donation of blood or platelets or by inspiring others to donate blood or blood. platelets.

• Hero of the Good Samaritan: This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional heroism, skill, commitment or resourcefulness in attempting to save one or more lives using skills aligned with those taught in Red Cross programs such as CPR / AED / first aid or other health and preparedness training.

• Service to the hero of the armed forces: This prize is awarded to one or more members of the armed forces (active or veteran, commissioned or non-commissioned) whose heroic action has shown exceptional courage or improved the well-being of the military community.

• Young Hero (18 years or under): This award is given to a young person who has demonstrated courage, initiative and / or compassion in the spirit of the American Red Cross in the service of another person or the well-being of the region.

Applicants must reside, work, or be active in Riverside County or San Bernardino County or acts of courage or humanitarian service must have taken place in one of those counties. The heroic act must either be an ongoing commitment to the community for more than a year or have taken place in 2021.
