Kendal’s Hackney & Leigh Estate Agents Win 2022 Business Services Award

RESPECTED and family-oriented estate agents in Kendal have been celebrated at the Northwest Family Business of the Year Awards 2022.

The awards ceremony was held at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool and featured finalists from across the North West, Kendal-based estate agents Hackney & Leigh receiving the 2022 Business Services Award.

Founded in 1982 by Derrick Hackney and John Leigh, the company will celebrate 40 years in business later this year, and John’s son Simon Leigh, who joined the company in 2004, said: “It’s a great way to start our birthday celebrations.

“The award is really for our amazing team and our extended family (three of whom have been in the business for 35 of those 40 years) and without whom this wouldn’t have been possible.”

Derrick Hackney added: “Since we were announced as winners, we have received so many beautiful messages of support and congratulations from customers, suppliers and members of the communities in which we live and work. Every post was hugely appreciated, as without the support of everyone around us, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

In addition to claiming the honor at the Northwest Family Business Awards, the company also received top marks from the Best Estate Agency Guide (BEAG) for the fourth consecutive time earlier this year.

Commenting on the success of the business, Simon said: “In my nearly twenty years with the business, it has almost doubled in size, both in terms of the size of our team and region we cover.

“When I arrived, we had 5 offices with 30 people, and now we have 9 offices, with a team of nearly 70.”

“Receiving awards like these is confirmation that our team is providing the region and the local communities within it with the highest level of service, providing the same customer experience for everyone, whether they are seeking advice, finding their first house, renting real estate, looking to sell land, a garage, an apartment or a house by the lake”.
