Kelly Raser is the new director of nutritional services for public schools in Jordan, according to a recent announcement.
Raser had served as Director of Nutritional Services at Jordan Elementary School (JES) since January 2020 and began his new role at the start of the 2021-22 school year. Raser has extensive experience in the restaurant business, as well as a passion for working with children, according to the Jordan Public Schools announcement.
Raser was born in Indiana, but she graduated from Jordan High School (JHS) and has lived in the Jordan area since she was 15. His career in food service most recently included working in catering for corporate events, conferences and weddings for the Oak Ridge Hotel and Conference Center in Chaska before taking the leadership role at JES.
Raser is excited to exceed expectations of what is traditionally thought of for school lunches and has already implemented changes to simplify lunch menus to allow kitchens to be creative, the announcement says.
She looks forward to bringing back traditional dishes and scratchy cooking to JPS and expanding students’ horizons by introducing them to new foods they may never have tried before. Shave also plans to revamp the JPS Gardens and involve students in the maintenance of the gardens, and wants to help teach JPS students about nutrition, healthy choices and portion control.
Outside of school, Raser enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, who attend all JPS schools.
“I am delighted that Kelly is joining our management team. Her hard work and dedication to the JES kitchen exemplifies JPS ‘mission and I’m already excited about the vision Kelly brings to the three school kitchens, ”said Superintendent Ranae Case Evenson. “Our students are discovering new menu items, homemade and fresh… and for each of our schools, having daily salad and fruit bar options to complement their starters is wonderful! I can’t wait to see what our Nutritional Services department will put in place next!
