Irish pub welcomes Prince Harry as owner hails royal as ‘really nice guy’ who offered bar-goers a shot

Prince Harry has been described as “a really nice guy” enjoying a pint of Guinness after visiting one of the best Irish pubs in the world.

The British Royal spent over three hours at the popular bar where he impressed pub-goers and management alike.

Harry had a quiet drink with friends on Thursday night at O’Casey’s Irish Pub in The Hague in the Netherlands.

The Duke of Sussex met King Willem-Alexander at the Invictus Games the following day, where the couple laughed and chatted with the rest of the packed crowd as they prepared for the wheelchair basketball game.

The owner of O’Casey’s is full of praise for the royal who he says “loves” Guinness.

Pub owner John Gulay, 51, said Harry drank a single pint of the black stuff before switching to lemonade.

“He loves Guinness,” Mr Gulay told the PA news agency, adding: “He loves Guinness, of course, who doesn’t?”

According to Mr Gulay, Harry said ‘A pint is all’ and ‘I’m sticking to a pint and then I’ll move on to lemonade’.

Mr Gulay said Harry had been offered shots of tequila but had refused them and suggested they were given to other people in the pub instead.

Harry was in the pub for about an hour and a half before heading out to dinner elsewhere, he said.

Mr Gulay said he had not sent an invoice to Harry’s table.

“I said ‘You know what? This bar bill is mine. I’m so honored to have you,'” he said.

“They offered to pay but I said I’m really happy you’re here and the Invictus Games have been so good for the pub this week,” he said.

Harry, who was one of a group of around a dozen sitting in the pub’s beer garden, was a “really nice guy”, Mr Gulay said.

O’Casey’s was named “the best Irish pub in the world” in 2019, according to its website.
