Guests at Sandals Royal Curaçao have easy access to all of the island’s attractions

Sandals Resorts’ newest all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, Sandals Royal Curaçao, is built along 44 oceanfront acres in the highly desirable and exclusive 3,000-acre estate of Santa Barbara. When it opens on April 14, 2022, it will become Sandals’ sixteenth property, with Curacao being the company’s eighth destination island in the Caribbean.

Curacao may be a small island, but it’s full of delicacies. Part of the “ABC Islands”, this picturesque island historically settled by the Netherlands is arguably the best kept secret in the Caribbean. It has 35 incredible white sand beaches along a 171 mile coastline, each with its own unique style and atmosphere.

Plus, Curacao’s waters are home to a one-of-a-kind submerged historic landscape, making it a diver’s paradise. Just below the ocean’s surface are rugged underwater cliffs littered with wreckage remains, as well as a plethora of tropical marine life. Underwater adventurers have 70 new dive sites they can explore, and Sandals Royal Curaçao’s highly trained crew can get PADI certified during their stay.

Of course, there are tons of activities and amenities on the property, including a natural ocean-fed saltwater pool carved out of the coastal rocks and the brand’s first two-level infinity pool.

But couples can also spread their wings and explore the island’s lush natural beauty, with plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, diving, water sports, sightseeing, stargazing and more. Guests staying in the resort’s upscale suites actually get free use of MINI Coopers so they can get out and soak up the whole island.

Adventurous guests leaving the property can enjoy a high-speed ATV tour or stroll the quaint streets of Willemstad, the capital of Curacao, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the legacy of Dutch colonialism remains clearly some of the local culture and colorful historic architecture is complemented by modern murals and street art. The city hosts many events throughout the year, you might even stumble upon a festival while visiting. Here you will certainly have the opportunity to taste authentic Curacao cuisine.

Among other notable Curacao attractions, Mambo Beach, located just four miles from Willemstad, is known to be one of the most beautiful stretches of white sand beach and clear blue sea on this picturesque tropical island.

Also be sure to walk along Mambo Beach Boulevard, where the boardwalk is packed with some of Curacao’s best restaurants, bars, nightlife, entertainment, and shopping opportunities. One of the best man-made beaches on the island, Mambo Beach itself is popular for its great water sports, great amenities, and plenty of shade when you’ve had enough of the tan.

Among the notable activities in the area is the Curacao Marine Aquarium, just a five-minute walk away, where you’ll find rare opportunities to see and interact with the local marine life. The aquarium has an open water system, which means that its marine life is in constant contact with the open sea. Animals and exhibits are presented in a unique natural environment. Additionally, interactive programs include the Sea Lion Encounter, which brings guests closer to sea lions, and a shark feeding experience as part of the Aquarium Animal Encounter.
