A floating hotel from the team behind the Royal Yacht Britannia was named Edinburgh’s Best by a travel website just six months after it opened.
Leith-based Fingal grabbed the # 1 hotel spot on TripAdvisor in the past week.
The rating – achieved after garnering a slew of five-star reviews from the public – comes after it began operations in January this year.
Andrew Thomson, Head of Hospitality, Events and The Fingal Hotel, said: “As the new luxury floating hotel of the Royal Yacht Britannia, we are absolutely delighted to be recognized as the number one hotel in Edinburgh by TripAdvisor.
“This success for Fingal, just six months after it opened, follows Britannia’s recognition for 12 years in a row as Scotland’s top tourist attraction.
“This is a testament to our excellent team of staff, who strive every day to make the experience of our customers on board exceptional.”
Registered in Leith, it was stationed for 30 years in Oban, then for six years in Stromness, transporting lighthouse keepers, supplies and maintenance personnel to the lighthouses.
The ship retired from NLB service in 2000.
Since overnight accommodation is not permitted on Britannia, the Royal Yacht Britannia Trust wanted to create a luxury floating hotel that would help attract more evening events to the former Royal Yacht.
Fingal’s £ 5million conversion took more than two years and involved digging up the ship to create the sleeping cabins.
