In response to positive feedback from offshore suppliers, Damen Shipyards Group has decided to build three new Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 2710 Hybrid vessels in stock at Damen Antalya yard in Turkey. The vessels will be available for rapid delivery to booming offshore renewable power generation operators.

Hybrid propulsion enables zero-emission operation in wind farms and in ports. Fast and stable crew transfer vessels capable of operating in rough seas have become a necessity in offshore power generation. In the rapidly developing offshore wind industry, vessels for crew and supplies need to be versatile, stable and robust, to be able to maneuver between turbine shafts and to offer safe and quick transfers to and from shore stations. .

Damen has developed the FCS 2710 dual axis bow which is suitable for getting the job done in offshore wind farms with ease and comfort. The catamaran design offers great stability with plenty of deck space. Both slender hulls have the ax bow design, with a very sharp and deep bow to eliminate slapping in and on the waves. Hull design in combination with a two-speed gearbox minimizes vessel motion and maximizes vessel thrust when pushed over the landing stage of a wind turbine, increasing operability, safety and comfort crew transfer operations.

Built in aluminum, the vessels with an overall length of 26.8 meters and a width of 10.5 meters, offer a capacity of 24 passengers for transfer to offshore work sites and 90 square meters of deck space. The FCS 2710 can reach speeds of up to 25 knots and maintain high speed even in rough seas, as the ax bow design largely eliminates slapping and pitching in the waves.

Based on a proven design with proven equipment, the FCS 2710 guarantees durable and robust quality. The ship offers customization possibilities on the proven platform. The cranes, deck equipment, layout of the deck and interior spaces as well as the number of passenger seats and crew accommodation can be modified at the request of the shipowner.

Damen offers more than quality ships: the yard group offers a complete service indicated as “ship as a service”. Any modification to meet specific operational requirements, lifetime service and repair and even financing options are included in the services that Damen can offer.

With three FCS 2710 hybrid vessels under construction, Damen is working on the development of an all-electric E-FCS 2710. With hybrid versions available from spring 2023, the all-electric offshore supply vessel is expected to be available sometime in 2024.
