QUAKERTOWN, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Bush House Hotel, in partnership with the Ministry of Quakertown, today announced plans to open a Social Services Resource Center for its residents and the greater Quakertown community on its property. Bush House Hotel donates space to local agencies, rent-free. The office will open this month. In addition, the management of the Bush House Hotel will donate $2,000 to the ministry.
For over 85 years, the Bush House has provided social housing in Quakertown. Over the past few years, the property has undergone extensive renovations to resident rooms, common areas, and bathrooms. The Bush House has over 100 fully furnished rooms and most weeks are fully occupied due to its flexible weekly rent. It also transformed a previously rented room into office space for local organizations to provide case management services and other resources to residents and community members.
“Due to the pandemic, some agencies have been forced to close or reduce their Upper Bucks services and will now have a greater presence in the area due to office space next to the Bush House,” says Reverend Denise Fry , MSW, President of the Quakertown Ministry. “This new social service center in the Bush House will finally give local agencies the space they need to interact directly with community members who need it most.”
The Quakertown Ministry recently held an open house at the Bush House Hotel for residents to learn about the services available on site. Additionally, free personal hygiene supplies, take-out meals and snacks from the Quakertown Ministerium, Salvation Army and Dough 2 Door were provided to residents.
“There is a huge need for low-income housing in Quakertown, and Bush House has been providing this service to residents for over 85 years,” said Tom Skiffington, owner of Bush House Hotel. “It is a privilege to partner with the Ministry of Quakertown to ensure that our residents and the Quakertown community get the social services they deserve, at no cost to the ministry or our residents.
