Brendan Fevola shares photo with Shane Warne’s ‘poker team’ ahead of his state memorial

Brendan Fevola recently broke down on air while speaking about the untimely passing of cricketing legend Shane Warne.

And on Tuesday, the AFL star revealed he had kindly paid tribute to his late friend by hosting a poker night with their friends ahead of Warne’s memorial service.

“Poker night in tribute to the king @shanewarne23,” the 41-year-old wrote, alongside a photo with the “poker lads.”

Shane’s memorial at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will take place at 7pm on Wednesday evening following the legend’s death at 52 in Thailand on March 4.

Fevola, who played poker with the cricketer just weeks before his death, recently said he was struggling to come to terms with the news and was heartbroken for the young children of Warne – Brooke, 24, Jackson, 23, and Summer, 20.

“I can’t stop thinking about them. These poor kids lost their dad,’ he said on his show Fifi, Fev and Nick. “They shared their life with their dad and now they have to also cry with the world about their father.

“There’s nothing we can do to help, but I just hope they know their dad was one of the best people you could ever meet. He was a great man, a good man.

Fevola also shared a photo from his poker night with Warne weeks ago and said all of his friends were “shattered”.

“This group, we caught up to poker nights that were always happening in Shane’s garage, his house, his vacation home,” he said.

“He was the life of the party. The life of poker. All our poker buddies phoned each other [on the night of his death]. There were only tall, grown men with wide-eyed eyes. I haven’t stopped crying all Saturday.

Fevola, who also starred alongside Warne in the 2016 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, said what made the cricketer star so special was the way he handled “everything the world the same” – from his wealthy billionaire friends to a passerby on the street.

“He made you feel so special when you were in his presence, he made you feel like you were the king,” he said.

“He did that with everyone in the room and not many people can do that or have those qualities.

“Everyone always says ‘I’m buddies with Warnie’ because that’s how he made you feel. You were his mate. He would stop and talk to everyone.

“Seeing all the headlines, I still can’t figure it out. He hasn’t penetrated.

Fevola, who has endured his fair share of controversy in the past, said he “learned a lot” from his best friend Warne.

“It wasn’t just his cricket, it was his thing off the pitch,” he said. “So many people can relate. I could identify with that because I have moved around a lot in my life.

“I learned from Shane that you own it. You own it and people can’t criticize you. That was his philosophy. He was a great human.

He also praised Shane for his charitable nature, adding: ‘He has done so much for the children. He was scamming a lot of people, but he was taking care of the children and the lives of some of these children that he had changed.

“I learned from Shane that you admit it. You own it and people can’t criticize you. That was his philosophy. He was a great human,” Fevola, who endured his fair share of controversy in the past said he had “learned a lot” from his best friend Warne.

“He raised millions and millions. He didn’t have to do this.

Shane was found dead while vacationing with his friends in Koh Samui, Thailand.

Four friends staying with the cricket star fought to save his life for 20 minutes, police said.

The Australian cricketer turned pundit and businessman, and the greatest leg spinner in history, was found unconscious in a villa in the resort.

Thai police say Warne was staying at the villa with four friends, and when one of the group tried to wake Shane for food around 5 p.m. local time, he was found unresponsive. not.

Officers said his friends performed CPR on him for about 20 minutes before an ambulance arrived and took Warne to the Thai International Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Senior Police Sergeant Major Suporn Hemruangsree said: “Police received a report of a deceased person at the Thai International Hospital so we went to the hotel and found out the deceased was with four others. friends and died in the bedroom.

“In the villa, people slept in separate bedrooms. They slept from afternoon to evening, until about 5 p.m.

“At 5pm someone came to call this person for dinner, but the deceased didn’t answer, so they called three other friends to perform CPR for 20 minutes. They waited for the ambulance to arrive.

“The doctor announced the death of the person at 6:53 p.m. The police went to check the room and there were no signs of trespassing or property searches. The body was sent for an autopsy to a hospital in Koh Samui.

Warne’s manager separately confirmed his death, saying the father-of-three could not be revived.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Shane Keith Warne passed away of a suspected heart attack in Koh Samui, Thailand today, Friday, March 4,” a statement from the management company read.

The statement added: ‘Shane was found unresponsive at his villa and despite the best efforts of medical personnel could not be revived.’ The family requests confidentiality at this time and will provide further details in due course.

Warne became a world star in 1993 when he beat Mike Gatting with the so-called “Ball of the Century” – his first Ashes cricket ball.

He went on to get 708 Test wickets, tormenting teams around the world, especially Australia’s arch-rivals England.

Warne is survived by his three children, Jackson, Summer and Brooke, all of whom he shares with his ex-wife of ten years, Simone Callahan.
